Feels Like Drowning

Part of me feels like we are drowning while we try
to dog paddle at the surface. That we cannot get out
of the ocean & stand steady on our feet.
Like a big wave comes up & knocks us back down again.
We are simply trying to live and not merely surviving.
Though it barely feels like we are surviving now.
Fighting our way to stay at the surface.
So hard not to lose hope as we are so tired
from treading water. Are we even treading water now?
My mental health is a laugh to some. 
Maybe it is getting washed away with the waves.
Shall our lungs fill with water instead of air?
Would you be proud of me then? 
Would I be allowed to fully live then?
