Real Estate Of My Mind

In having to start to deal with another situation
involving a parent, you have come to reside 
in my mind. You are passing through during the day.
I don't want you taking up real estate of my mind.
I have a thousand other things that can easily
occupy my mind. Yet, because this involves someone
I have called dad over the years, someone other than you.
The ghost of you decides to remind me of you.
There is a difference though this time. It no longer
hurts me nor do I miss you. It isn't hard to hurt
when someone wasn't in my life even before they passed.

Instead, I hate this situation for him and everything it entails.
I'll stand by & support him and help as needed.
Our kids will always have us in their corner.
They know the love & support of both parents in their lives.
Together, we are a team - united by love & blood & bonds.
